Birthplace: Eagle, Nebraska Resided In: Middletown, California Darlene M. Rowe, age 75, of Middletown, California passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at the Apple Valley Convalescent Hospital in Sebastopol, California. Darlene Mae Rowe was born May 20, 1931 in Eagle, Nebraska the daughter of Edwin C. and Evelyn L. (Jose) Rowe. The family moved to Iowa in 1943 and Darlene graduated from the Strahan High School. After high school, she lived at home before moving to Omaha, Nebraska in 1950 where she worked for the Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company. In the mid 1950's she was transferred to Denver, Colorado. She moved to Oakland, California in the late 1950's and worked for the Title Trust and Insurance Company. In 1967, she worked for a short time for the Ford Motor Company in Melpitas, California. She then moved to Fremont, California and went to work for the State of California retiring in 1999. During the 1960's, Darlene worked for the Alameda County Sheriff's Department at the Women's Correctional Facility. She also played in a country western band on the bass guitar and the steel guitar. She was a member of Love Every Animal, enjoyed sewing, making teddy bears, and had a collection of teddy bears. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; brother: Delmar Rowe; sister-in-law: Sarah Rowe; brother-in-law: Floyd Johnson; nephew: Raymond Rowe; and great niece: Tammy Ingwersen. Survivors include her sister: Maryann Johnson of Gardnerville, Nevada; uncle: Fay Jose of Plattsmouth, Nebraska; aunt: Wilma Jose of Crete, Nebraska; nephew: Eugene Rowe and wife Joan of Omaha, Nebraska; two nieces: Gloria Ingwersen of Omaha, Nebraska; and Lisa Hoyt-Valdez and husband James of Gardnerville, Nevada; many great nieces & nephews, great great nieces and nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends including her special friends: Lyza Chavez of Lower Lake, California and Bruce and Mary Hicks of Clear Lake, California. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Monday, January 15, 2007 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Casey Rowe officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 2-4 PM Sunday, January 14, 2007 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Montgomery County Animal Rescue. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
