Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Elliott, Iowa Daniel J. "Dan" Hasenpflug, age 44, of Elliott, Iowa passed away Thursday, March 6, 2008 at the Red Oak Rehab and Care Center. Daniel Jay "Dan" Hasenpflug was born September 23, 1963 in Red Oak, Iowa the son of Ronald and Janet (Nelson) Hasenpflug. He was raised in Elliott and graduated from Griswold High School in 1981. After high school he started working for Oakland Beef Packing until going to work for Schildberg Construction. For the last several years he had been working for Charlie Smith near Griswold, Iowa. Dan was an avid outdoorsman enjoying trapping, hunting, and fishing. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Lawrence and Millie Nelson of Elliott, Iowa and Vivian Wilson of Norfolk, Nebraska; sister: Cindy Hasenpflug in 1965; and father: Ronald Hasenpflug in 1968. Survivors include his mother: Janet Hunt of Elliott, Iowa; sister: Rhonda Bowers and husband Kenny of Elliott, Iowa; brother: Jeff Hunt of Elliott, Iowa; nephew Tyler Bowers and his girlfriend, Kristen and their son, Conner, all of Elliott, Iowa; grandfather: Everett Hasenpflug of San Pablo, California; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Monday, March 10, 2008 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Mel Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery at Elliott, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be held from 5-7 PM Sunday, March 9, 2008 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak. Memorials are suggested to the family. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel of Red Oak, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.
