Obituary

Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Elliott, Iowa Dan R. Rush, age 54, of Elliott, Iowa, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2009 at the Creighton Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska after injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Danny Ray Rush was born February 25, 1955 in Red Oak, Iowa the son of George and Phyllis (Brouse) Rush. He was raised in Elliott, Iowa and graduated from the Griswold Community High School in 1974. Dan was united in marriage to June Larsen in 1974 and to this union was born a daughter, Amanda. He was later united in marriage to Leta Dyer on May 1, 2006 in Red Oak, Iowa. He farmed for many years and owned and operated Rush Trucking. He was a former member of the Elliott Volunteer Fire Department, the Southwest Iowa Mini Pullers Association, Pony Express Riders, and was trail boss for the River City Roundup for many years. Dan loved riding motorcycles, collecting and shooting guns, camping, fishing, and hunting. He was a true outdoors man. Dan was preceded in death by his brother, John. Survivors include his wife: Leta Rush; daughter: Amanda Rush and friend J. Lambert of Shenandoah, Iowa; parents: George and Phyllis Rush of Griswold, Iowa; brother: Joe Rush and wife Kathy of Griswold, Iowa; step-children: B.J. Dorris of Arkansas; Lacey Dorris and friend Caleb Watts of Arkansas; Autumn Dorris and friend C.J. Richards of Griswold, Iowa; and Devon McClain of Elliott, Iowa; grandson: Ridyk Wayne of Arkansas; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held 2 PM Friday, June 26, 2009 at the Griswold United Methodist Church with burial of the cremated remains to be in the Griswold Cemetery. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel of Red Oak, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.
