Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Dalton Paul Valentin, age 23, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2017. Dalton was born September 15, 1993 in Red Oak, Iowa the son of Greg Valentin and Kathy Palmquist. Dalton was raised in Red Oak graduating from Red Oak Community High School in 2012. He attended Metro Community College and JTL Truck driving school receiving his CDL certification. Dalton was a hard worker who loved to help farm with the Mellott family and his aunt and uncle, Polly and Matt Towne. He worked at Healthy Turf Lawn Care before starting to work with his dad at Valentin Construction and was becoming a very accomplished finish carpenter. He enjoyed fishing, kayaking, golfing, playing guitar and piano, and loved anything that had a motor including cool cars, loud trucks, and his favorite, a 379 Peterbilt semi truck. Dalton had a very fun loving spirit and a great sense of humor. Preceding him in death were his grandmother: Mary Hughes and a very wonderful friend: Jordan Vannausdle. Survivors include his parents: Kathy Palmquist and Greg Valentin and wife Tricia all of Red Oak; sisters: Jessica Pelzer and husband Jared of Griswold, IA and Morgan Sowers of Cedar Falls, IA; nephew: Jaxton Pelzer of Griswold; grandparents: Bruno and Loretta Valentin of Mandan, ND and John and Randie Hardiman of Council Bluffs, IA; girlfriend: Liz Pratt of Red Oak; aunts and uncles: Kim Goettsche and husband Kailon of Red Oak; Kelly Vannausdle and husband Kirk of Red Oak; Kerin Wright and husband Tom of Villisca, IA; Nick Hughes and wife Meredith of Ankeny, IA; Polly Towne and husband Matt of Henderson, IA; Bret Valentin and wife Becky of Clarkville, TN; and Sonja Taix and husband Brian of Bismarck, ND; many cousins, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, February 24, 2017 at the Faith Community Church Pastor David MacDonald officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 5-7 PM Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the family. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
