Obituary

Birthplace: Rural Stanton, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Dale M. Watt, age 86, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Care Center after an extended illness. Dale Merle Watt was born May 30, 1926 near Stanton, Iowa the son of Clyde and Elva (McPherson) Watt. The family farmed in many different places throughout Iowa moving back to Red Oak where Dale graduated from Red Oak Community Schools. He then entered the United States Navy serving during WWII. Upon his return from the war, Dale started farming with his father. He was united in marriage to Carol Albertson on May 10, 1952 in Fontanelle, Iowa. Dale farmed until 1976 when he went to work for the Moore family in many capacities including helping with the Falk's ice cream. Dale spent 14 years as the Veteran Affairs Director for Montgomery County. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #2265, was a member of the American Legion Post #76, a Court of Honor charter member, enjoyed bowling, trap shooting, woodworking, and making clocks. Dale was preceded in death by his parents; son: Charles Mitchell Watt; sister: Thelma Griffeth; and brother: James Watt. Survivors include his wife: Carol Watt of Red Oak; children: Linda Southworth; Calvin Watt and wife Ann; and Alan Watt all of Red Oak; special friends: Ernie and Marsha Moestchen and family of Monona, IA formerly of Villisca, IA; nephews: Ron Watt and wife Anna of Clinton, IA; Vance Griffeth and wife Sondra of Atlantic, IA; and John Griffeth and wife Teresa of Ames, IA; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday, December 1, 2012 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Pastor Fred Pilecki officiating. Viewing and visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Friday, November 30, 2012 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at a later date at Salem Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Montgomery County Memorial Court of Honor or the Good Samaritan Society. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
