Dale Leon Sawtelle, age 61, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Monday, December 1, 2025, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Dale was born April 24, 1964, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Reggie and Beverly (Stender) Sawtelle. He was raised in Flint, Michigan, moving to Colorado and later Southwest, Iowa, in the mid 1990's. Over the years, he worked for Hi Crest Automotive in Creston, Red Oak Chrysler in Red Oak, and most recently Powell Farms. Dale was united in marriage to Heidi Jarrett in 2019. He was a mechanic, by trade, who could fix most things. He always said he was a jack of all trades and master of none. His hobbies included working in the yard, fishing, golfing, bowling, and playing pool.
Preceding him in death was his father. Survivors include his wife: Heidi Jarrett-Sawtelle of Red Oak; children: Jeremy Sawtelle; Jalen Sawtelle of Leon, IA; Josh Sawtelle and wife Rachel of Cedar Rapids, IA; Zoe Greever of Shenandoah, IA; Jalee Sawtelle of Stanton, IA; Hunter Jarrett of Red Oak; Darian Sawtelle of Henderson, IA; and Jackson Sawtelle of Shenandoah, IA; one granddaughter; mother: Beverly Stender of Fostoria, MI; sisters: Kellie Nettleton of Flint, MI and Roberta Winn-Powers of Millington, MI; brother: Malcolm Maitland of Fostoria, MI; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Don and Cathy Jarrett of Red Oak; and many other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 3 PM Saturday, December 6, 2025, at LeRette Funeral Chapel. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
