Dale Morse Proctor, age 78, of Emerson, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at his home after an extended illness. Dale was born June 27, 1945, in Leon, Iowa, the son of Herman and Isabelle (Bryant) Proctor. He graduated from Leon High School in 1963 and was drafted into the Army in 1967. He did his basic training at Ft. Bliss and Ft. Sam Houston before being stationed as a Medic in Giessen, Germany. Dale was honorably discharged in 1969. He was united in marriage to Darlene Behrens on July 12, 1970, in Wales, Iowa. They lived all their married life in Emerson, Iowa. Over the years, Dale worked for Charles Lakin, the railroad, Emerson Farm Supply, Paul Richards, Dale's Skelly Station (Later Getty and Texaco), and retired from the United States Postal service where he was a mail carrier for 33 years. He was a long-time member of the Emerson American Legion, the Masonic Lodge, THCKK, and the Rural Postal Carrier Union. Dale enjoyed working on vehicles, collecting old cars and trucks, collecting toy cars and trucks, collecting Keen Kutter and Winchester tools, going to flea markets, helping William and Delvin during harvest, and spending time with his faithful companion, Sadie, the dog.

Preceding him in death were his parents; in-laws: Julius and Della Behrens; brother: Donald Proctor; and brother-in-law: Delvin Behrens. Survivors include his wife: Darlene Proctor of Emerson, IA; daughter: Della Nelson and husband David of Wales, IA and Denny Proctor and wife Babe of Emerson, IA; grandchildren: Alycen Nelson of Emerson, IA; Dakota Nelson of Emerson, IA; Thomas Nelson and wife Jayme of Red Oak, IA; Lilly Proctor of Emerson, IA; and Fletcher Proctor of Emerson, IA; great grandchildren: Lyam, Everlyn, Quynn, and Alexander; siblings: Doris Tranbarger (Burl) of Gallatin, MO; Diane White and husband Larry of Garden Grove, IA; and Dave Proctor and wife Carol of Davis City, IA; sister-in-law: Carmen Proctor of Osceola, IA; and brother-in-law: William Behrens of Red Oak, IA; many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel at 1995 G Ave. in Red Oak, Iowa. Burial with military honors will be held at the Emerson Cemetery in Emerson, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be held from 5-7 PM Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel at 1995 G Ave. in Red Oak, Iowa. Memorials are suggested to the Diabetes Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
