Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Dale E. "Bergy" Bergren, age 75, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Friday, February 2, 2007 at the Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha after a sudden illness. Dale Emmett "Bergy" Bergren was born February 19, 1931 in Red Oak, Iowa the son of Victor and Mabel (Bruce) Bergren. He was raised and attended school in Red Oak. While in high school, Bergy worked at the Wilkins Bakery. He was later united in marriage to Lois Neal and to this union was born a daughter and three sons. Dale started working for the Union Carbide in 1949 and was later drafted into United States Army during the Korea War serving in Germany. Upon his return, he worked for the Union Carbide Battery Plant until his retirement in 1986. Bergy was a former member of the Eagles Lodge, enjoyed fishing, hunting, working in his yard, and all kinds of music. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ralph Bergren. Survivors include his companion of thirty years: Leona Templeton of Red Oak, Iowa; daughter: Joy Bergren of Des Moines, Iowa; sons: Tom Bergren and wife Denise of Villisca, Iowa; Gary Bergren and wife Alice of Red Oak, Iowa; and David Bergren and wife Shelley of Red Oak, Iowa; grandchildren: Lori Wise and husband Steve of Monument, Colorado; Shawnda Thornton and husband Jason of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Angela Bergren and Jessica Bergren of Denver, Colorado; Brandi Bisbee of Lincoln, Nebraska; Jennifer Bisbee of Orem, Utah; Richard Dozier of Red Oak, Iowa; Tina Bressler and husband Tim of Red Oak, Iowa; and Brandon, Blake, Baylor, and Bryton Bergren all of Red Oak, Iowa; great grandchildren: Ashley Wise and Andrew Wise of Monument, Colorado; Audie Thornton and Creighton Thornton of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and David Zwerk and Brittany Zwerk of Red Oak, Iowa; brother: Robert Bergren and wife Joan of Arnold, California; sister-in-law: Winona Bergren of Omaha, Nebraska; many nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Chris Hall officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Monday, February 5, 2007 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
