Birthplace: Lewis, Iowa Resided In: Stennett, Iowa Dowaine A. "D.A." Kinser, age 95, of rural Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2014 at his home near Stennett. D.A. was born November 29, 1918 in Lewis, Iowa the son of Harvey and Bell (Salyers) Kinser. He was raised in the Lewis and Red Oak areas. When he got out of school, he started working on a traveling farming crew. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was in the 96th Division, Wire Section, serving in the Pacific Theater. During this time, D.A. was united in marriage to Elaine McConnell on August 14, 1943 in Yakima, Washington. Upon his return from the war, D.A. started farming south of Red Oak. He eventually moved to his current farm near Stennett, Iowa in 1953. He raised crops and always had a herd of Angus cows. He enjoyed hunting deer, hunting raccoons, fishing, trapping, but his greatest hobby was just being a farmer. He was alongtime member of the VFW, currently in Villisca, Iowa. Preceding him in death were his parents; wife: Elaine Kinser on June 17, 1989; and his brother: L.E. Kinser. Survivors include his children: Sandra Wynne and husband Dan of Callahan, FL; Butch Kinser and wife Jan of Stanton, IA; Caroline Farlin and fiance Michael Schipull of Clarinda, IA; Barbara Jean Copeland and husband Jim of Clarinda, IA; and Darwin Kinser and wife Connie of Red Oak, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Thursday, May 15, 2014 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dr. Eric Kutzli officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Stratton United Methodist Church or the Heartland Hospice. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
