Birthplace: Hamburg, IA Resided In: Red Oak, IA Curtiss Eugene Sederburg, age 71, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Curtiss was born July 14, 1943 in Hamburg, Iowa the son of Frank and Helen (Stephens) Sederburg. He lived his early years in the Essex, Iowa area attending the Coburg School until his senior year when he attended and graduated from the Essex, Iowa High School. Curtiss served in the National Guard and later returned to Shenandoah, Iowa where he worked for the City of Shenandoah and was a volunteer fireman. He was a millwright who worked all over the Midwest for many years and then worked for Erickson Construction, Johnson Brothers Construction, and most recently C & J Construction. Curtiss called Red Oak his home for many years and was a longtime member of the Red Oak Elks Lodge #1304. Preceding him in death were his parents; son: Curtiss Sederburg, Jr.; and sister-in-law: Judy Ann Sederburg. Survivors include his son: Corey Sederburg of New Mexico; grandchildren: Colton Sederburg of Shenandoah, IA; Dalton Sederburg of Council Bluffs, IA; Jacob Sederburg of Sidney, IA; and Hannah Sederburg of Sidney, IA; sister: Trudy McNulty and husband Dennis of Omaha, NE; brother: Clemie Sederburg of Essex, IA; many other relatives and friends including special friend: Cody Johnson and his family of Red Oak, IA. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Essex, Iowa Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the USO-Military. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
