Curtis Dale White, age 66, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at his home. Curtis was born September 12, 1958, in Burlington, Colorado, the son of William "Bill" and Nancy (Cramer) White. He was raised in Ness City, Kansas, where he graduated high school. Curtis served in the United States Air Force for many years and completed his career from Offutt AFB. He was united in marriage to Kristi Yost on June 17, 2000, in Fremont, Nebraska. Over the years, he worked at First Data in IT, was a general contractor, a furniture maker, a camp ranger at Camp Eagle in Fremont, and most recently the Veterans Affairs Director in Montgomery County, Iowa. Curtis was a member of the Ernie Johnson American Legion Post, Red Oak Eagles Lodge, Red Oak Elks Lodge, Montgomery County Memorial Court of Honor, and was very active in Red Oak Rotary Club and Boy Scouts of America. He loved being outdoors, camping, and hiking.
Preceding him in death was his father. Survivors include his wife: Kristi White of Red Oak, IA; children: Lance White and wife Breanna of San Antonio, TX; Alicia Hernandez and husband Luis of Austin, TX; Jason Nasr and wife Lori of Omaha, NE; Amy Weiss and husband Dave of Bellevue, NE; Jon Nasr and wife Christine of Omaha, NE and Traci Hays and husband David of Omaha, NE; grandchildren: William, Donavan, Matthew, Curtis, Kylie, Shelby, McKenzie, Aspen, Tyler, Garen, Jr., and Ariana; great grandchildren: Melody, Ryker, and Ava; mother: Nancy Friess of Dodge City, KS; step-mother: Barb White of Ness City, KS; siblings: Terry White and wife Linda of Dodge City, KS; Carolyn Custer and husband John of Jefferson, WI; Stephanie Pfannestiel and husband Aaron of Lawrence, KS; and Jeff White and wife Lacy of Kansas City, KS; in-laws: Debbie Heuring and husband Mike of Fremont, NE; Suzie Yost and husband Jimi Gomez of Chico, CA; Michael Yost and wife Kristine of Denver, CO; and JJ Yost and wife Renee of Lincoln, NE; and many other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life visitation will be held from 3-7 PM Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the home of Curt and Kristi White at 2104 Boxelder Ave., Red Oak, Iowa. Military honors will be rendered at 3:30 PM.
LeRette Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with cremation services.
