Curtis Lee Strange, age 58, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 25, 2024, at his home. Curtis was born September 29, 1965, in Shenandoah, Iowa, the son of Robert and Ida (Dailey) Strange. He was raised in Shenandoah and graduated from Shenandoah High School. He worked for Mt. Arbor Nursery and the Cooperative before moving to Red Oak in the early 1990's. Curtis was united in marriage to Julie Schumacher in April of 1997 in Red Oak, Iowa. He worked for the Red Oak Greenhouses for many years and held various other jobs recently. He enjoyed living a simple life, hanging out with friends at BBQs, listening to music and whatever else they came up with. Over the years, he enjoyed camping, BBQs, and just chillin' with a cold beer with his music playing LOUD. He loved his family whole-heartedly and would do anything possible for them when needed. He disliked seeing people struggle and would help in any way he could.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his father-in-law: Allen Schumacher; and sister-in-law: Lisa Schumacher. Survivors include his wife Julie Strange of Red Oak; children: Brandy Strange of Farragut, IA and Cody Strange of Omaha, NE; step-children: Josh Wilcoxson and wife Jen of Red Oak and Jessica Jipsen and husband James of Red Oak; grandchildren: Annabell, Addison, Carly, Kenzie, and Brooklyn; brother: Bob Lane and wife Robin of Essex, IA; sisters: Doris Dickinson and husband Kevin of Val Rico, FL and Kathy White and husband Jay of Omaha, NE; mother-in-law: Norma Schumacher of Red Oak; brother-in-law: Brian Schumacher and wife Teri of Fairfax, IA; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews; and other relatives and many friends.
Viewing and visitation with the family will be held from 4-6 PM Friday, March 29, 2024, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel at 1995 G Ave. in Red Oak. A private family interment service will be held at the Union Grove Cemetery in Page County, Iowa.
Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
