Obituary

Birthplace: Rural Essex, Iowa Resided In: Rural Essex, Iowa Curtis Johnson, age 82, of Essex, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Curtis Edward Johnson was born July 5, 1924 on the family farm near Essex, Iowa the son of Eddie and Minnie Johnson. He graduated from Essex High School in 1941 and started farming. Curtis was united in marriage to Beulah Hays on December 5, 1952 at Oakland, Iowa. Curtis has lived all of his life within a half mile from where he was born. He was a member of the Fremont Lutheran Church at Nyman where he was the Sunday School Secretary/Treasurer for many years and loved to sing in the choir in his younger days. Curtis loved music and most of all he loved his family. Preceding him in death were his parents; and sister: LaVose Otte. Survivors include his wife: Beulah Johnson of Essex, Iowa; son: Alan Johnson and wife Roberta of Ames, Iowa; daughter: Linda Hefley and husband Wayne of Ames, Iowa; two grandchildren: Scott Johnson of Ames, Iowa; and Kristin Johnson of Ames, Iowa; brother: Clayton Johnson of Essex, Iowa; sisters-in-law: Mary Jane Core of Glendale, Arizona; and Alice Stephens of Ames, Iowa; brother-in-law: Tim McEvoy of Missouri Valley, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, December 21, 2006 at the Fremont Lutheran Church at Nyman with Rev. Dr. Eric Kutzli officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery at Nyman. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements
