Curtis Lynn Franzen age 68, of Elliott, Iowa, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2023 at the Red Oak Rehab and Care Center in Red Oak, Iowa. Curtis was born November 9, 1954 in Clarinda, Iowa, the son of Dean and Wilma (Chubbick) Franzen. He was raised in Wales and Stanton, Iowa and graduated from Stanton High School in 1973. Curtis was united in marriage to Sherry Miller on June 24, 1978 in Elliott, Iowa. They made their home in Stanton and later moved to Elliott. After graduating, Curtis worked for a pig farmer, Wistrom Oil, Parker Hannifan and retired from Oakview Construction after 25 years of service. After retirement, he worked for Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. He was a member of the Elliott United Methodist Church and the IOOF Lodge. Curtis was known to be a master carpenter. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, trapping, canoeing and construction projects.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brother: Larry Franzen; brother-in-law: Butch Miller; and mother and father-in-law: Jake and Jan Miller. Survivors include his wife: Sherry Franzen of Elliott, Iowa; children: Jennifer Sherman and husband Jeff of Fleming Island, Florida; Josh Franzen of Elliott, Iowa; Joel Franzen and wife Laura of Kathleen, Georgia; Jacque Howell and husband Eric of Elliott, Iowa and Jesse Franzen and wife Emma of Oskaloosa, Kansas; 13 grandchildren; sister: Cheryl McArdle and husband Mark of Des Moines, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life service will be held 11 AM Friday, March 17, 2023, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak. Visitation with the family will be held from 5 PM – 7 PM, Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.
