Obituary

Connie Kay Hardy, age 84, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Connie was born October 28, 1940, in Farragut, Iowa, the daughter of Sherman and Geneva (Schnoor) Lightfoot. She graduated from Farragut High School. Connie was united in marriage to Leonard Hardy on March 6, 1960, at the Congregational Church in Farragut, Iowa. Six children were born of this union: Steven, Terry, Susan, Douglas, William, and Iona. They made their home in Hastings, Iowa, and Emerson, Iowa before Leonard passed away. Connie was a homemaker before Leonard's passing. In 1980, she moved to Red Oak where she worked many part-time jobs including Dairy Queen, Breadeaux Pisa, Red Oak High School, CDS, and Casey's General Store where she retired. Connie enjoyed spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren as well as doing jigsaw, word search, and crossword puzzles, embroidery, reading, and adult coloring.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband: Leonard; Leonard's parents; son: Steven Hardy; brothers: Mike and Larry Lightfoot; and daughter-in-law: Becky Hardy. Survivors include her children: Terry Hardy and wife Karen of Villisca, IA; Susan Townsend and husband Randy of Braddyville, IA; Douglas Hardy and special friend Rebecca Pettit of Red Oak, IA; William "Bill" Hardy and fiancé Amy Eggleston of Coburg, IA; and Iona Bentson and husband Jamie of Red Oak, IA; 16 grandchildren: Johna, Ronnie, Joshua, Kevin, James, Brooke, Britni, Bryce, Kaile, Raymond, Kristopher, Teesha, Kendra, MacKenzee, Tevin, and Kyler; 35 great grandchildren; brother: Donald "Gene Lightfoot and wife Sandy of Malvern, IA; and many other relatives and friends.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 AM Friday, June 27, 2025, at the Malvern Cemetery in Malvern, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be held from 5-7 PM Thursday, June 26, 2025, at the LeRette Funeral Chapel.
