Colleen M. Johnson, age 73, of Larned, Kansas, formerly of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at the Diversicare Nursing Home in Larned. Colleen was born April 19, 1948, the daughter of A. Delbert and Lila (Copelin) Johnson. She grew up on a small farm outside of Guss, Iowa. Growing up, Colleen was involved in 4-H and her mother, Lila, was the leader. She graduated from New Market High School in 1966. The family lived near Guss, Iowa for many years and later moved to Red Oak, Iowa. While in Red Oak, Colleen worked for Spurgeon's and Red Coach Inn. In 2015, Colleen moved to Larned, Kansas, to be near her family. When she was young, she enjoyed "Ditch Diving" with her cousins. Her hobbies also included doing puzzles, crafts, china and saw blade painting, and attending and working craft fairs with family. She loved everything "Elvis" and "Coca-Cola".
Colleen was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and a child of the heart: Dennis Smith. Survivors include her other children of the heart: Cody, Daniel, Amanda, and Jesilea Smith; many cousins and other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held 11 AM Saturday, March 12, 2022, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak, Iowa. Burial of the cremated remains will take place in Arlington Cemetery near Villisca, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Diversicare Nursing Home of Larned, Kansas.
