Birthplace: Farragut, Iowa Resided In: Emerson, Iowa Colleen Dobbs, age 85, of Emerson, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Wanda "Colleen" Dobbs was born October 11, 1926 in Farragut, Iowa the daughter of Thomas and Esther (Hopkins) McMahon. She graduated from Farragut High School in 1944 and Coe College with a teaching certificate in 1946. She taught country school for three years and was united in marriage to Eugene Dobbs on December 4, 1948 in Red Oak, Iowa. Colleen attended Clarinda Community College from 1956-1957 where she earned her Practical Nursing License. She worked at Murphy Memorial Hospital before her schooling as an aid and then after her schooling as a nurse for a total of thirteen years. Eugene and Colleen moved to Kansas City where Colleen was a school nurse at Bonner Springs until moving to Florida in 1972. She worked for Coconut Creek Developers as a secretary until moving to Big Lake, Missouri in 1990. Colleen and Gene moved back to Emerson, Iowa in 1993. Colleen enjoyed spending time knitting, crocheting, and fishing. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband: Gene Dobbs in 2004; son: Vaughn Dobbs in 2007; and five siblings. Survivors include her grandchildren: Nicholas Dobbs and wife Kayla of Springfield, Missouri and Jo Ellen Humphrey and husband Kwanza of Lee's Summit, Missouri; great grandchildren: AJ, Trinity, and Lucy Dobbs and Jonas Humphrey; brother: Keith McMahon and wife Darlene of Farragut, Iowa; sister: Kathryn Wallingford of Villisca, Iowa; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Don and Beryl Dobbs of Red Oak, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Saturday, December 3, 2011 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Pastor Denise Stevens officiating. Burial will be in the Emerson, Iowa Cemetery. There will be open visitation at the funeral home. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
