Cody A. Tunnell, age 38, of Villisca, Iowa, passed away Friday, May 2, 2025, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, Iowa. Cody was born August 17, 1986, in Carthage, Missouri, the son of Ron and Debra (Hoyt) Tunnell. He was raised in Shenandoah and Essex, Iowa. He attended school in Essex, Iowa and then served in the Iowa Army National Guard. Over the years, he lived in Shenandoah, Red Oak and Villisca, Iowa. He worked for Minsa in Red Oak and Eaton Corporation in Shenandoah. He loved the outdoors, especially birds, flowers, camping, cat fishing, and mushroom hunting.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ron Tunnell. Survivors include his fiancé: Sarah Hill of Villisca, Iowa; children: Richard Tunnell of Essex, Iowa; Olivia Embree of Emerson, Iowa; and Madilyn Hill, Brycen Hill, and Jackson Hill of Villisca, Iowa; mother and father: Deb and Jim Terry of Red Oak, Iowa; siblings: Casey Tunnell of Red Oak, Iowa; Christian Terry and fiancé Sierra Petty of Red Oak, Iowa; Jacobi Tunnell of Maryville, Missouri; Grady Terry of Red Oak, Iowa; and Deacon Terry of Red Oak, Iowa; grandmothers: Lucy Govig of Red Oak, Iowa; and Rosie Tunnell of St. Joseph, Missouri; many aunts, uncles, and other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 AM Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the family.
