Birthplace: St. Charles, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Cleo F. Roby, age 83, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Society Care Center. Cleo Faye Roby was born February 15, 1926 in St. Charles, Iowa the daughter of Charles and Mable (Hess) Clarke. She graduated from St. Charles High School in 1943. Cleo was united in marriage to Paul Roby on April 16, 1945 in Des Moines, Iowa. They lived in Truro, Fairfield, and Oskaloosa, Iowa before moving to Red Oak in 1968. Cleo worked for a grocery store and the movie theater while in Truro and for the Sheriff's Office in Fairfield. In Red Oak Cleo worked for HyVee and during retirement years Paul and Cleo owned and operated Roby's Cars. She enjoyed flowers, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, spending time with her grandchildren, going to garage sales, and wintering in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas for 27 years. Cleo was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Paul and Elvina Roby; a sister: Lila Waller and in-laws: Betty Williams; Shirley Peppmeier; Otis Roby; Lila Parker; and Richard Roby. Survivors include her husband: Paul Roby of Red Oak; children: Steven Roby and fiancé Doris Ellison of Red Oak; Michael Roby and wife Donna of Red Oak; and Robert Roby and wife Jennifer of Plattsmouth, Nebraska; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters and brothers: Edna Shreeves-Keeton of St. Charles; Norma Jean Lunnon of Fullerton, California; Charles Clarke, Jr. and wife Mary Ann of Beatrice, Nebraska; Phillip Clarke and wife Carol of Osceola, Iowa; Norman Clarke of Waukee, Iowa; Dorthea Edmunds and husband Bill of Sandy, Utah; Judith Bedwell and husband Ross of St. Charles; and Jerry Clarke and wife Charlotte of Truro; sisters-in-law: Ann Parker and husband Robert of Indianola, Iowa; Dolores Roby of Indianola; and Pauline Roby of Aptos, California; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, September 10, 2009 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. JoAnn Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
