Birthplace: Muscatine, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Claude E. Webb, Jr., age 67, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Monday, April 23, 2007 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Claude Elwood Webb, Jr. was born May 28, 1939 in Muscatine, Iowa the son of Claude and Vera (Reichert) Webb. He was raised in Muscatine graduating from the Muscatine High School in 1957. That same year he started working for Northwestern Bell as a lineman. He held several positions in Sioux City, Keokuk and Atlantic. Claude was united in marriage to Sharon Sunderman on November 19, 1961 in Griswold, Iowa. He served in the United States Army from 1962-1963. Upon his return from the Army, Claude and Sharon moved to Red Oak where they have lived ever since. Claude worked for Northwestern Bell as Central Office Supervisor and Manager at Red Oak, Shenandoah, and Hamburg retiring after 31 years of service in 1986. He then worked for Sunderman Oil Company in Griswold. Claude was a charter member of the Nishna Church of Christ where he held several positions, was a founding member of the Classy Chassis Car Club, Past President of the Lions Club, was a former member of the Red Oak Jaycees where he was the outstanding first year Jaycee for 1964-1965, President of the Nishna Club Telephone Pioneers, and loved racing and most Saturday nights would be found at the Adams County Speedway in Corning, Iowa. Claude was preceded in death by his father: Claude E. Webb, Sr.; sister: Linda Schmidt; and father and mother-in-law: Floyd and Esther Sunderman. Survivors include his wife: Sharon Webb of Red Oak, Iowa; son: Kirk Webb and wife Lisa of Griswold, Iowa; daughter: Jana Jessen and husband Rick of Corning, Iowa; grandchildren: Ashley Lamb of Ames, Iowa; Whittney Lamb of Grant, Iowa; and Paige and Regan Jessen of Corning, Iowa; great grandchild: Jace Lamb of Grant, Iowa; mother: Vera Webb of Muscatine, Iowa; sister: Gay Hindbaugh and husband Leo of Muscatine, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Friday, April 27, 2007 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Pastor Duane Lacock and Pastor Derek Watt officiating. Burial will be in the Wierich Cemetery near Lyman, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Thursday, April 26, 2007 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
