Birthplace: Macedonia, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Clarence Bryant, age 95, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Friday, November 29, 2002 at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Red Oak after an extended illness. Clarence Leonard Bryant was born March 18, 1907 in Macedonia, Iowa, the son of Eugene and Pearl (Comstock) Bryant. Clarence grew up in Pottawattamie, Mills and Montgomery Counties. He was united in marriage to Hazel Minick on June 22, 1938 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Clarence farmed in Minnesota and returned to Hancock, Iowa in 1940. In 1949, Clarence and Hazel moved to Stanton, Iowa and continued farming until his retirement in 1977. Clarence and Hazel were active with "Meals on Wheels", Red Oak and Stanton Masonic Lodges, Faith Rebekah Lodge, Farm Bureau, and the Red Oak Presbyterian Church. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Hazel on Dec. 15, 1997, a brother Clyde Bryant, a sister Helen Bryant, and a brother Wayne Bryant in January 2002. Clarence in survived by three sons: Darrel and his wife Diane of Greenwood Village, Colorado; Dennis and his wife Cynthia of Ames, Iowa; Kevan and wife Suzie of Gillette, Wyoming; seven grandchildren: Jeff Bryant of Lincoln, Nebraska and his mother, Judy Bryant of Overland Park, Kansas; Shelley Orwig and her husband J.D. of Princeton, Illinois; Michael Bryant and fiancé Summer of Overland Park, Kansas; Tiffany Chappell, Sheri Bryant and Jesse Bryant all of Gillette, Wyoming; four great grandchildren: Caleb Bryant, Corbyn Chappell, Sierra Bryant and Elizabeth Orwig; brother: Ross Bryant of Red Oak, Iowa; 3 sisters: Gladys Lorimor of Shenandoah, Iowa; Mae Miller of Red Oak, Iowa; and Dorothy Siegfreid and her husband Arnold of Loveland, Colorado; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Clarence Bryant will be held 10:30 AM Monday, December 2, 2002 at the Red Oak Presbyterian Church with Rev. Suzanne Hewett officiating. Burial will be in the Macedonia, Iowa Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Sunday, December 1, 2002 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Red Oak Presbyterian Church or the Red Oak Good Samaritan Center. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
