Birthplace: Muskota, Kansas Resided In: Elliott, Iowa Clarabell Carlisle, age 91, of Elliott, Iowa, passed away Thursday, February 06, 2003, at the Good Samaritan Center in Red Oak. Clarabell Carlisle was born November 17, 1911, in Muskota, Kansas, the daughter of Lee and Elsie Edwinson. Clarabell graduated from Nortonville, Kansas High School. She was united in marriage to Paul Carlisle in 1936 in Horton, Kansas. They lived in Nortonville, Kansas; California; and Atchison, Kansas; before moving to a farm near Elliott, Iowa, in 1947. Clarabell worked at the Griswold and Elliott schools as a cook until 1958, when Paul and Clarabell purchased the Elliott Hardware Store and moved into Elliott. Clarabell attended the Elliott Church of Christ and was a member of O.N.O. and the Research Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, Jerry Lee Carlisle; three brothers, Ray, Vernon and Lee, Jr. Survivors include her husband: Paul Carlisle of Elliott, Iowa; daughter: Janice Miller of Elliott, Iowa; son: Dallas Carlisle and his wife Emily of Omaha, Nebraska; Grandchildren: Jerry "Butch" Miller and his wife Linda of Westminster, Colorado; Sherry Franzen and her husband Curtis of Elliott, Iowa; Kim Johnson of Chariton, Iowa; Kevin Carlisle and his wife Amy of Griswold, Iowa; Amy Cooper and her husband Jason of Vilsek, Germany and eleven great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Monday, February 10, 2003 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Pastor Gary Walters officiating. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Elliott, Iowa. There will be open visitation. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer Association. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak is in charge of arrangements.
