Birthplace: Corning, Iowa Resided In: Villisca, Iowa Charlou Westerlund, age 59, of Villisca, Iowa, passed away Friday, February 7, 2014 at the Villisca Good Samaritan Society after an extended illness. Charlou was born August 30, 1954 in Corning, Iowa the daughter of Kenneth and Virginia (Froyd) Westerlund. The family moved to California when Charlou was very young. She graduated from the Agoura Hills High School and then San Diego State University with a Bachelors Degree in Education with teaching credentials. She moved to Hawaii where she taught for many years. Upon retirement, Charlou moved back to California for a short time before going back to Hawaii. She moved to Villisca, Iowa in 2013 due to health issues. Charlou was an avid reader, enjoyed quilting, painting, and music. She enjoyed creating music and also enjoyed listening to all kinds of music. Survivors include her daughter: Rhean Pagan-Westerlund of Menlo Park, CA; parents: Kenneth and Virginia Westerlund of Villisca, IA; sisters: Julie Vasquez of Maui, HI and Kelly Courtice and husband Brian of Punta Gorda, FL; uncles: Gene Wesrterlund and wife Joan of Villisca, IA; Russ Froyd and wife Gene of Clive, IA; and Frank Froyd of Denver, CO; many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and many friends including Wendy and Vince Hull of Agoura Hills, CA and Harrison Pagan of Hawaii. A private family celebration of life service will be held at a later date in Hawaii. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with cremation services.
