Birthplace: New Market, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Charlotte Sungren, age 95, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Monday April 2, 2007 at the Red Oak Rehab and Care Center. Charlotte Opaline Sungren was born March 6, 1912 in New Market, Iowa the daughter of Everette and Bertha (Wallis) Corbin. She was raised in New Market graduating from New Market High School in 1929. After graduation she started working at the Thomas D. Murphy Company where she was employed for thirteen years. Charlotte was united in marriage to C. Edwin Sungren on June 1, 1940 in Red Oak, Iowa. Charlotte later worked at the Hilltop Motel for several years when the kids were in high school. Charlotte and Edwin moved into their home on Division Street in 1940 and Charlotte remained there until she went to the care center last year. She was a former member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband: Edwin Sungren on May 16, 1985; sisters: Letha Knoles and Peggy McPherren; and brother: Bernard Corbin. Survivors include her son: Randy Sungren of Hopewell, Virginia; twin daughters: Dianne Hildreth and husband Nick of Red Oak, Iowa and Joanne Jones and husband Jerry of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren: Kevin Jones of Omaha, Nebraska; Brian Jones and wife Jessie of Omaha, Nebraska; Sara Jensen and husband Erik of Neola, Iowa; Sally Hildreth and fiancé Matt Barchman of High Point, North Carolina; Ryan Hildreth of Ames, Iowa; Shawnda Sungren of Olmsted Falls, Ohio; Shad Sungren and wife Sarah of Rome, Ohio; and Jessica Sungren of Chester, Virginia; great grandchildren: Makenzi, Keeghan, and Anker; brother: Paul Corbin and wife Margaret of Findlay, Ohio; sister: Georgia Brown and husband Marvin of New Market, Iowa; sister-in-law: Aluia Penry of Red Oak, Iowa; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, April 5, 2007 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Caryn Pedersen officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Red Oak Altrusa Club. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
