Birthplace: Hastings, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Charles Eugene "Charlie" Walker, age 82, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2014 at the Creighton Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Charlie was born June 28, 1932 in Hastings, Iowa the son of John and Myrtle (Sledd) Walker. He grew up in the Emerson area and graduated from Emerson High School while serving in the United States Navy during the Korean War period. He came back to Emerson and worked in Omaha as a machinist. He was united in marriage to Pauline Hunt on January 22, 1956 in Red Oak, Iowa. They farmed near Stanton until Charlie came to Red Oak to manage the new hog farm. He worked for Union Carbide for nine years until starting his real estate career in 1969 with Carder and Kurtenback. He started his own business, Charlie Walker Real Estate, in 1979 and was still selling real estate until his death. Over the years, Charlie was a long time member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, was active in Boy Scouts of America, was a member of the American Legion, the Red Oak Country Club, the Red Oak Elks Lodge, and the Montgomery County Board of Realtors. Preceding him in death were his parents; son: Gary Walker; sisters: Edith DeBolt and Rene King; and brother: Kenneth Walker. Survivors include his wife: Pauline Walker of Red Oak; children: Chuck Walker and wife Gena and Steve Walker and wife Cindy all of Red Oak; grandchildren: Cindy Price and husband Curtis of Castle Rock, CO; Carey Millikan and husband Todd of Shenandoah, IA; Morgan Franks and husband Dave Omaha, NE; Casey Walker and wife Clarissa, Carly Walker, Elaine Walker, Macy Walker, Erica Walker, and Leya Walker all of Red Oak; great grandchildren: Cohen and Jordan Price; Cambre, Paige, Matthew, and Journey Millikan; Logan Franks; and Cyson Walker; sisters: Mae Bruce and husband Bernard of Loveland, CO; Carol Morse and husband Lane of Union, NE; and Sharon Hoover and husband Joe of Hancock, IA; sister-in-law: Maxine Chastain of Mankato, MN; brothers-in-law: Don Hunt and wife JoAnn and Larry Hunt and wife Maria of Phoenix, AZ; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
