Birthplace: Villisca, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Charles Lloyd, age 78, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away, Friday, March 1, 2002 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Charles Richard Lloyd was born November 8, 1923 in Villisca, Iowa the son of Charles and Edna (Harper) Lloyd. Charles has lived in Southwest Iowa and Red Oak all of his life. On November 3, 1942 Charles was united in marriage to Evelyn Hritz in Oregon, Missouri. He entered the Army on May 28, 1943 and was discharged in 1945. He served overseas in the 180th Engineer Battalion as a Medical Aid Man. After his return to Red Oak, Charles was a carpenter and a brick mason. He managed the Farmers Mercantile Lumber yard for many years retiring in the early eighties. He then went to work managing the Kum-N-Go gas station. Charles was a member of the Red Oak Presbyterian Church, the Red Oak Masonic Lodge, a former member of the Optimist Club, and a former member of the American Legion. Preceding him in death were his parents; sister: Ruth Robinson; and a brother: Donald Alm. Survivors include his wife: Evelyn Lloyd of Red Oak, Iowa; son: Stephen Lloyd and his wife Rebecca of Thurman, Iowa; grandson: Jonathan Lloyd of Thurman, Iowa; brother: Leland Lloyd and his wife Marie of Sand Point, Idaho; 2 sisters: Anna Mae Almquist of Huntington Beach, California; and Sara Frances Kindberg of Denver, Colorado; sis-in-law: Lavon Alm of Tabor, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Tuesday, March 5, 2002 at the Red Oak Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Suzanne Hewett officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7-8 PM Monday, March 4, 2002 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Red Oak Rescue Unit. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
