Birthplace: Clarinda, Iowa Resided In: Stanton, Iowa Cassie Rae Williams, age 31, of Stanton, Iowa, passed away Friday, January 4, 2019 in Clarinda, Iowa, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Cassie was born May 8, 1987 in Clarinda, Iowa the daughter of Toby and Wendy (Newman) Gilliland. She was raised in Stanton, Iowa graduating from Stanton High School in 2005. Cassie attended Northwest Missouri State University for one year and then Kirkwood College for one year. She worked for Clarinda Academy for seven years. During this time is when she met Carlos Williams. They were united in marriage on June 23, 2013 in N. Liberty, Iowa. They made their home in Clarinda until moving to Stanton, Iowa recently. For the last two years, Cassie worked for Pure Rehabilitation Services. She was a longtime member of Mamrelund Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School. She also taught dance for many years and most recently taught at Footworks Dance Studio. Cassie enjoyed doing crafts, reading, playing board games with her kids, and shopping online. She also had a passion for traveling and enjoyed going on cruises. Preceding her in death were her brother: Cody Gilliland and grandparents: Ron Newman and Jack and Betty Confer. Survivors include her husband: Carlos Williams; sons: Cailex Riley Williams and Cylin Major Williams; mother: Wendy Confer and husband Ken of Stanton, IA; father: Toby Gilliland and wife Barb of Red Oak, IA; brothers and sisters: Cade Confer and Marcel Confer of Stanton, IA; Danielle Terry and husband David of Shenandoah, IA; and Tanner Gilliland and Jaydan Gilliland of Red Oak, IA; grandparents: Jerry and Pat Gilliland of Stanton and Millie Newman of Stanton, IA; mother-in-law: Thelma Jackie Towns of Chicago, IL; father-in-law: Jabar Muhammed of Hammond, IN; grandmother-in-law: Betty Barnes of Chicago, IL; sister-in-law: Brittani Towns of Chicago, IL; nephew: Jorale Ivy of Chicago, IL; niece: Neshiya Ivy of Chicago, IL; aunts and uncles: Mindy and Jake Wookey of Red Oak, IA; Heidi and Brad Bader of Cedar Rapids, IA; Traci and Trent Yeager of Kasota, MN; Monte and Carrie Gilliland of Salina, KS; Kerry and Amy Confer of Emerson, IA; Keith and Colleen Confer of Glenwood, IA; and Kelli Confer and fiancé Ken Schauer of Red Oak, IA; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Friday, January 11, 2019 at the Mamrelund Lutheran Church in Stanton, Iowa. Burial will be in the Mamre Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Thursday, January 10, 2019 at the Mamrelund Lutheran Church. Memorials are suggested to the family. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
