Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Carolyn Jean McKay, age 87, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at the Red Oak Healthcare Community. Carolyn was born November 4, 1927 in Red Oak, Iowa the daughter of Ernest and Lucile (Stocksleger) Wetterlind. She graduated from Red Oak High School in 1944 and started working at the J.C. Penney Company. Carolyn was united in marriage to Thomas F. McKay on March 31, 1947 in Missouri and they made their home in Red Oak for many years. Carolyn moved to Council Bluffs later in life to go to school at Iowa Western Community College where she received her secretarial degree. She then moved to Omaha working for Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company. Carolyn enjoyed crocheting, doing jig-saw puzzles, crosswords, and word searches. She moved back to Red Oak after she retired in 1990. Preceding her in death were her parents; infant brother: Max; brother: Duane Wetterlind and his wife Mary; sister: Dorothy Anderson and her husband Elmer; and brother: Donald Wetterlind. Survivors include her daughters: Connie Larson of Red Oak, IA and Cathy Hall and husband Gary of Red Oak, IA; grandchildren: Kellie Benedict of Red Oak, IA and Justin Hall of Red Oak, IA; great grandchild: Hayley Benedict of Red Oak, IA; sister-in-law: Pat Wetterlind of Red Oak, IA; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Friday, January 30, 2015 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
