Carolyn Sue "Carrie" DeLong King, age 70, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2022, at the Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Carrie Sue DeLong was born December 28, 1951 in Hamburg, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph "Joe" and Mabel (Mooney) DeLong. She was raised in Fremont County, Iowa and graduated from Hamburg High School. After high school, she was united in marriage and two children were born to this union: Kattie and Joseph. She lived in the Emerson, Iowa area for many years where she worked in the family farming operation. She also worked at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in the billing department. Carrie moved to Red Oak in 2004. She was a member of the Emerson First Baptist Church and the Red Oak Eagles Lodge. Her hobbies included gardening, playing pool, watching sports, doing yard work, and spending time with her grandkids. She also loved Christmas so much that she made stockings for all of her family.
Preceding her in death were her parents and sisters: Ruby, Ilene, Anna, and Geraldine. Survivors include her children: Kattie Lewis and husband Brad of Emerson, IA and Joe Parker and wife Tina of Prairie Grove, AR; grandchildren: Parker Lewis and wife Lisha of Malvern, IA; Grant Lewis and special friend Kylie Bowers of Hastings, IA; Cody Parker and fiancée Leatha Bennett of Emerson, IA; Teigan Parker of Goodwell, OK; and Hadleigh and Aidan Parker of Prairie Grove, AR; great grandson: Levi Lewis of Malvern, IA; great granddaughter: Addie Bowers; siblings: Norma Bode, Tony DeLong, Elbert "Eb" DeLong, Paul DeLong, Jim DeLong, Steve DeLong, Mary Lou Honea, and Henry DeLong; and many other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held 11 AM Monday, March 14, 2022, at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Thurman, Iowa Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Red Oak Eagles Lodge.
