Birthplace: Elliott, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Carol A. Heuer, age 78, of Red Oak, Iowa passed Tuesday, July 13, 2004 at the Bergan Mercy Hospice House in Omaha, Nebraska. Carol Anne Heuer was born February 17, 1926 in Elliott, Iowa the daughter of Frank and Annie (Graves) Braden. She attended elementary school in Elliott and Red Oak, Iowa. She started high school in Red Oak and graduated from the Hastings, Nebraska High School in 1944. She then attended Stephen's College in Columbia, Missouri, Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska, and the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, Nebraska. Carol was united in marriage to Elden Heuer on June 12, 1947 at the First Christian Church in Hastings, Nebraska. She was a homemaker and Mother to her family. Carol was a member of the First United Methodist Church for over 50 years where she was a volunteer, a Sunday School Teacher, conducted children's and adult's bible study classes, was a member of church circles, and a past member of the parsonage board. She was also a past volunteer at the hospital. Carol enjoyed shopping, decorating, crossword puzzles, and most of all her family. She especially enjoyed their summer family retreat at Ottertail Lake in Minnesota. Carol was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: William Braden and Clyde Braden during WWII. Survivors include her husband: Elden Heuer of Red Oak, Iowa; 3 sons: Joseph Heuer and wife Karen of Des Moines, Iowa; James Heuer and wife Chris of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and Robert Heuer and wife Rachel of Elliott, Iowa; daughter: Lois Graham and husband Jim of Carmel, Indiana; 10 grandchildren: Jennifer Heuer, William Heuer, Anne Heuer, Susie Heuer, Cara Crilly and husband Karis, Mark Heuer and wife Andrea, Joy Heuer, Annie Graham, Caroline Graham, Joseph Graham; and great grandson: Nolan Crilly; and many nieces, nephews; and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, July 16, 2004 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Robert Smith and Rev. Michael Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Thursday, July 15, 2004 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
