Obituary

Birthplace: Mount Etna, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Carlton Bohanan, age 70, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Friday, July 25, 2003 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Carlton Dean Bohanan was born June 20, 1933 in Mt. Etna, Iowa the son of Harry and Dorothy (Corbin) Bohanan. He was raised in the Corning area and graduated from the Corning High School. He then served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Carlton worked hard highway construction in Ft. Calhoun, Nebraska where he lived for 40 years. He retired in 1996 and moved to Red Oak in 2000. Carlton enjoyed dancing, singing, traveling, camping, attending country festivals, and playing the bones. He was preceded in death by his father: Harry Bohanan on August 4, 2001. Survivors include his mother: Dorothy Bohanan of Corning, Iowa; wife: Melanie Parkhurst of Red Oak, Iowa; 3 sons: Bradford Bohanan and his wife Carol of Plattsmouth, Nebraska; Randy Bohanan and his wife Dominee of Corning, Iowa; and Scott Bohanan and his wife Nancy of Corning, Iowa; 12 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Monday, July 28, 2003 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Craig Larsen officiating. Burial will be in the Morton's Mill Cemetery in Morton's Mill, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Sunday, July 27, 2003 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
