Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa C. Diane Hicks, age 62, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 9, 2008 at her residence. Diane Hicks was born May 21, 1945 in Red Oak, Iowa the daughter of Keith and Zearilene (Harding) Vanderhoof. She was raised in the Coburg area. After high school Diane lived several different place including Missouri and California before moving back to Red Oak. She was united in marriage to Jim Hicks in December of 1982 in Reno, Nevada. She and Jim have lived in Red Oak for many years. Diane worked for D & L in her early years and most recently at the Rainbow Café where she worked for many years. She was a member of the Red Oak Eagles Lodge. Diane was preceded in death by her parents; sister: Georgia Bruce; and niece: Deanna Evans. Survivors include her husband: Jim Hicks of Red Oak, Iowa; step-children: Lester Hicks and wife Georgia of Arlington, Texas; and Ramona Cobb and husband Melvin of Long Beach, California; 6 step-grandchildren; brothers: Jeff Vanderhoof and wife Amy of Villisca, Iowa and Dennis Vanderhoof of Red Oak, Iowa; sister: Karla Bentson of Omaha, Nebraska; sister-in-law: Nadean Jones of Lindsay, California; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2:30 PM Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Pastor Trevor Skalberg officiating. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. Memorials are suggested to the family. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
