Brock Michael Corliss, age 34, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Friday, September 29, 2023, at University of Nebraska Medical Center. Brock was born May 11, 1989, in Clarinda, Iowa, the son of James and Elizabeth (Bailey) Corliss. He was raised in Red Oak, Iowa, where he graduated from Red Oak Community High School with the class of 2007. Brock attended the University of Iowa for a short time before receiving his EMT training through Iowa Western Community College. He was united in marriage to Sabrena Utley in 2013 and one son was born to this union: Michael. Over the years, Brock worked several jobs in Red Oak before starting with Apria Healthcare where he was currently employed. Brock was a woodworker and enjoyed building things. While in high school, he enjoyed working on the theater production sets and was also a Minnisinger. He was also very handy with electronics and liked fixing things. Brock was a volunteer fireman for many years and was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan.
Preceding him in death were his grandparents: Jim and Donna Corliss and Bob Bailey; and uncle: Rob Bailey. Survivors include his son: Michael Corliss of Creston, IA; parents: Jim and Liz Corliss of Red Oak, IA; sister: Maura Jones and Skyler Shaw of Red Oak, IA; nieces and nephews: Kayden Shaw, Peyton Jones, Brooklyn Jones, Natalie Shaw, and Hunter Jones; grandmother: Linda Bailey of Clarinda, IA; aunt: Rae Danielson and husband Danny of Council Bluffs, IA; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, October 7, 2023, at the First Christian Church. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 5-7 PM Friday, October 6, 2023, at the First Christian Church. Memorials are suggested to the Red Oak Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association or to the Michael Corliss Education Fund.
