Birthplace: Creston, Iowa Resided In: Stanton, Iowa Brian Paul Hopf, age 41, of Stanton, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2018, following a brave battle with brain cancer, at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. Brian was born October 16, 1976, in Creston, Iowa, the son of Marvin and Evelyn (Krauss) Hopf. He was raised near Orient, Iowa, graduating from Orient-Macksburg High School in 1995. He continued his education at Northwest Missouri State University where he received a degree in Agricultural Business with a minor in Agronomy. Following graduation, Brian worked for Security State Bank. Brian was united in marriage to Crystal Miller on August 16, 2003, in O'Neill, Nebraska. They made their home in Stanton, Iowa, where Brian worked for Hancock Elevator in Elliott, Farmers National, and Great Western Bank in Clarinda. He was a member of Central Church of Christ in Griswold and was an active member of the Stanton Chamber of Commerce, Stanton Library Board, Stanton Homecoming Committee, and the Stanton Optimist Club. He loved Stanton and took a lot of pride in his involvement in community activities. His hobbies included woodworking, fishing, reading, deer hunting, and helping his dad on the farm. Evan, Corinne and Logan loved the weekends they spent camping and time spent with dad in the garage. Brian enjoyed the big family vacations and even the small moments of reading bedtime stories. Preceding him in death were his grandparents, his uncle: Dale Leemaster; and his father-in-law: Dennis Miller. Survivors include his wife: Crystal Hopf of Stanton, Iowa; children: Evan, Corinne, and Logan Hopf; parents: Marvin and Evelyn Hopf of Orient, Iowa; sister: Denise (Aaron) Ackerland of Madrid, Iowa; aunt: Shirley (Ron) Hall of Hereford, Colorado; mother-in-law: Sharleen Miller of Chambers, Nebraska; brother-in-law: Clark (Shannon) Miller of Chambers, Nebraska; sister-in-law: Amber Fairbrother of Papillion, Nebraska; brother-in-law: Brett (Dana) Miller of Hastings, Nebraska; grandmothers-in-law: Carol Miller of Chambers, Nebraska, and LaVone Johring of O'Neill, Nebraska; nieces and nephews: McKenna, Anthony, Johnna, and Andrew; and many other relatives and friends. A celebration of life service will be held 10:30 AM Friday, September 7, 2018, at the Mamrelund Lutheran Church in Stanton, Iowa. Burial will be in the Mamre Cemetery. Viewing and visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Thursday, September 6, 2018 at the Viking Center in Stanton, Iowa. A memorial fund is being established in Brian's memory. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel of Red Oak, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.
