Obituary

Brett Floyd Light, age 52, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Brett was born March 22, 1971, in Iowa City, Iowa, and was adopted when he was 3 weeks old, the son of Dean and Darlene (Hoover) Light. The family lived in Ft. Dodge, Iowa during his Kindergarten thru 7th grade years. Then they moved to Evergreen, Colorado until moving to Red Oak, Iowa in 1988. Brett graduated from Red Oak Community High School in 1990. He worked various jobs throughout the years including Nishna Productions. Brett was united in marriage to Jennifer Foreman on May 26, 2000 in Red Oak, Iowa. His hobbies included putting together model cars, coloring, watching NASCAR, listening to music, tinkering with cars, photography, and doing any activity outdoors.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents: George and Ethel (Setterstrom) Light and Floyd and Lillian (Webbink) Hoover. Survivors include his wife: Jennifer Light of Red Oak, IA; daughter: Maggie Light of Red Oak, IA; son: Brandon Light of Guthrie Center, IA; son: Cody Johnson of Omaha, NE; parents: Dean and Darlene Light of Kansas City, KS; sister: Amy Maskil and husband Dan of Kansas City, KS; mother-in-law: Cindy Dunn of Red Oak, IA; father-in-law: Larry Foreman and Tammi King of Red Oak, IA; sister-in-law: Janell Milner and husband Tom of Red Oak, IA; nieces and nephews: Abigail Maskil of Kansas City, KS; Aaron Maskil of Iwakuni, Japan; Priscilla Cline and husband Kenny of Omaha, NE; and Chloe Milner of Red Oak, IA; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 5-7 PM Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Red Oak Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association or American Heart Association.
