Obituary

Birthplace: Emerson, Iowa Resided In: Omaha, Nebraska Bill Shook, age 79, of Omaha, Nebraska formerly of Red Oak and Emerson passed away Monday, January 21, 2002 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska after a brief illness. Bill Shook was born September 21, 1922 on a farm near Emerson, Iowa the son of Glen and Lula (Liston) Shook. He graduated from the Emerson High School in 1940 and went to work for the J.C. Penney Company in Red Oak. He later worked for Fifield Furniture before taking a position in Norfolk, Nebraska operating the furniture store there. When the business was sold, Bill moved to Omaha and worked for Orchard and Wilhelm Furniture Store and most recently worked for Davidson's Furniture retiring in 1989. Survivors include his sister: Geneva Shook Burnison of Red Oak, Iowa; brother: Dean Shook of Independence, Missouri; Niece: Glenda; Nephew: Rick; and best friend: Herald Wiltshire of Omaha, Nebraska; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Friday, January 25, 2002 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Frank Schultz officiating. Burial will be in the Emerson Cemetery in Emerson, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 7-8 PM Thursday, January 24, 2002 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
