Birthplace: Council Bluffs, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Beverly Nelson, age 71, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Saturday, October 27, 2001 at the Good Samaritan Care Center. Beverly Jean Nelson was born November 7, 1929 in Council Bluffs, Iowa the daughter of Riley C. And Virginia (Winslow) Nelson. Beverely's family moved to Red Oak in 1944. They owned and operated the Powell School until 1977. Beverly was a lifelong resident of Red Oak, Iowa graduating in 1950 from the Red Oak High School. She was most recently a resident of the Good Samaritan Care Center and attended church at the First Congregational Church. Preceding her in death were her parents; and a brother: Riley Richard Nelson. Survivors include her sister: Carolyn Armknecht of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota; 2 nieces: Laura Lof and her husband Paul and their children: John and Emily of Red Oak, Iowa; and Julia Stainer and her husband David and their daughter Catherine Ann of Ipswich, England. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Wednesday, October 31, 2001 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Kelly Hostetter officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery in Council Bluffs, Iowa. There will be open visitation at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Red Oak Good Samaritan Center or the Red Oak Fire Department. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
