Birthplace: Elliott, Iowa Resided In: Elliott, Iowa Betty M. Welsch, age 82, of Elliott, Iowa passed Saturday, March 18, 2006 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak. Betty Marie Welsch was born March 29, 1923 in Elliott, Iowa the daughter of Clifford and Mary (Smith) Braden. She was raised in Elliott and graduated from the Red Oak High School in 1940. She received her Normal Training at Red Oak Junior College and taught country school. Betty was united in marriage to Charles Welsch on December 28, 1946 in Elliott, Iowa. Charles and Betty lived on the family farm and Betty taught school. Betty loved the farm but says she hated the chickens. Betty taught at Stennett, where she was also acting principal, Grant, Iowa and Elliott, Iowa before retiring in 1987. Betty moved into Elliott in 1988. She was a lifelong member of the Elliott Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School and was Sunday School Superintendent. Betty was also a member of the Elliott Library Board, Pink Pudgies Club, O.N.O. Club, Pinochle Club, and enjoyed vacationing at Little Pine Lake in Perham, Minnesota for over 50 years. Betty was a dedicated Mother and Grandmother as her family was her pride and joy. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother Dorothy Braden, and her husband Charles Welsch on February 26, 1987. Survivors include her daughter: Candace Tischer and huband John of Elliott, Iowa; three grandsons: Chris Tischer and wife Kerrie; Andrew Tischer and Jenny; and James Tischer and wife Melinda all of Elliott, Iowa; great granddaughter: Madeline Candace Tischer of Elliott, Iowa; sister: Barbara Henkey of California; brother Court Braden and wife Janet of California; step-brother: Leonard Danielson and wife Betty of Villisca, Iowa; sister-in-law Margaret Miller and husband Max of Elliott, Iowa; sister-in-law: Regina Welsch of Red Oak, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at the Elliott Church of Christ in Elliott, Iowa with Pastor Michael Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 P.M. Monday, March 20, 2006 at the Elliott Church of Christ in Elliott, Iowa; Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel, Red Oak, Iowa is in charge of arrangemen
