Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Betty Schmid, age 50, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Friday, January 3, 2003 at the Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska after an extended illness. Betty Lou Schmid was born August 9, 1952 in Red Oak, Iowa the daughter of Joseph Raymond and Jerretta (Adair) Frink. She was raised in Red Oak and graduated from Red Oak High School in 1970. Betty was united in marriage to David Schmid on June 6, 1970 at St. Mary's Church in Red Oak. They lived in Kingman Arizona before moving back to Red Oak in 1988. Betty was a former employee of Montgomery County Memorial Hospital and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother: Edward in 1936; brother: Jimmy in 1954; sister: Loraine in 1978; and brother: Donald in 1991. Survivors include her husband: Dave Schmid of Red Oak, Iowa; 2 daughters: Valerie Childs of Winterset, Iowa; and Angela Raffensberger and her husband Vincent of Omaha, Nebraska; son: Aaron Schmid and his wife Lisa of Red Oak, Iowa;3 grandchildren: Taylor Richardson; Zachary Childs; and Megan Childs; sister: Dolores Goff and her husband Ron of Red Oak, Iowa; Father and Mother-in-law: George and Lois Schmid of Red Oak, Iowa; 2 brothers-in-law: Dennis Schmid and his wife Kay of Des Moines, Iowa; and Tim Schmid and his wife Charla of Red Oak, Iowa; 2 sisters-in-law: Diane Melendez and her husband Angel of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and Teresa Wadhams and her husband Mark of Pengilly, Minnesota; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, January 6, 2003 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Father James Kleffman officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Sunday, January 5, 2003 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or the Arthritis Foundations. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
