Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Betty J. Riggle, age 56, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Friday, August 17, 2007 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Betty Jean Riggle was born May 29, 1951 in Red Oak, Iowa the daughter of Harvey and Nadine (Harper) Schenck. She was raised and lived all of her life in Red Oak, Iowa. After school, Betty started working for JD Café. She was united in marriage to Charles Riggle, Jr. on October 16, 1977 in Red Oak, Iowa. Over the years Betty has worked for Red Lion Steakhouse, the State School, CDS for 17 years, and most recently the Red Oak Schools as a bus monitor. Betty has been described by her family as being the most bright spirited person they have ever known. She lit up the room when she walked in. The kids describe her as being the best mom ever. She always enjoyed malts and ice cream sundaes with the kids. She loved bowling, romance novels, collecting lighthouses and fairies, scary movies, family reunions, computers, computer games, and most of all her family and her grandkids. Betty's family was her whole life. The kids always felt as though they could discuss any matter with Betty and she would not judge them. She would only love them. Betty had a special bond with her sister-in-law, Toni. Betty was the sister Toni never had. Betty and Chuck were soul mates going through the good times and the bad times together. They would have been married thirty years this October. Betty had recently become a member of the Faith Community Church where she was a very active soul. Preceding her in death were her parents; her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Charles and Margaret Riggle; brother: Thomas Schenck; aunt and uncle: Wilma and Ed Harper; and brother-in-law: Kenny Kesterson. Survivors include her husband: Charles Riggle, Jr. of Red Oak, Iowa; children: JoAnn Robinson and husband Robert of Scribner, Nebraska; Lora Stahl and husband Herbert of Blair, Nebraska; Kristina Hadden and husband Mark of Soldier, Iowa; Sandra Sousek and husband Jeff of Prague, Nebraska; Charles Joseph Riggle and wife Tara of Fremont, Nebraska; and Amanda Riggle of Red Oak, Iowa; grandchildren: Jessica Rounds of Blair, Nebraska; Sarah Rounds of Scribner, Nebraska; Michaela Stahl, Cassandra Stahl, and Hannah Stahl all of Blair, Nebraska; Samantha Sousek and Jacob Sousek both of Prague, Nebraska; and Harrison Riggle and Faith Riggle both of Fremont, Nebraska; sisters: Carolyn Tebrinke and husband Richard of Perry, Iowa and Marian Walker and husband Arthur of Shenandoah, Iowa; sister-in-law: Toni Kesterson of Red Oak, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; her "Special Babies": Sigh the dog and Dinky the cat; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at the Faith Community Church with Pastor Brett White officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Monday, August 20, 2007 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Faith Community Church or the Red Oak Rescue Unit. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
