Birthplace: Rural Sidney, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Betty Arlene Otte, age 83, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Thursday, December 5, 2013 at her residence after a brief illness. Betty was born December 7, 1929 in Knox near Sidney, Iowa the daughter of Cecil and Cleota (McCormick) Grape. She was raised in the Sidney and Riverton area graduating from the Sidney High School. Betty was united in marriage to Lyman G. "Snooks" Otte on February 9, 1948 in Burlington Junction, Missouri. They lived near Sidney for many years moving to Red Oak in 1966. Betty worked for Union Carbide Battery Company retiring in 1992 under Eveready. Betty also provided private in home health care and later worked for Heartland Home Health. She was a longtime Red Oak Eagles Member. She enjoyed cooking and tending to her flowers, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband: Lyman "Snooks" Otte on December 3, 1973; sister: Mary Woods; and brother: Gary Grape. Survivors include her sons: Vincent Otte and wife Jonette of Henderson, IA; Craig Otte of Red Oak; and Jim Otte of Red Oak; daughter: Patricia "Patti" Gee and husband Gary of Shenandoah, IA; grandchildren: Robin Sams and husband Steve of Independence, MO; Derek Otte and wife Cassie of Gillette, WY; Sarah Otte of Des Moines, IA; Jasmyn Walker and husband Stephen of Tulsa, OK; Haleigh Potratz and husband Matt of Shenandoah; and Taylor Gee of Lincoln, NE; great grandchildren: Krystal Sams; Jack, Zane, Gus, and Kyrie Otte; and Kinzlee and Bryer Vincent Potratz; great great granddaughter: Eva Marie Sams; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Rick Sleyster officiating. Burial will be in the Sidney, Iowa Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Betty Otte Memorial Fund. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
