Birthplace: Clarinda, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Betty E. Bolton, age 84, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Monday, April 4, 2011 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Betty Elaine Bolton was born January 27, 1927 in Clarinda, Iowa the daughter of Ernest and Anna (Eclof) Hammer. She was raised in Red Oak and later moved to San Francisco, California. She was united in marriage to Samuel H. Bolton on March 5, 1947. They lived most of their married life in the Omaha area moving back to Red Oak after retirement. In 1984, they moved to Idaho where they lived until moving back to Red Oak in 1991. Betty enjoyed time shopping, reading, watching movies, doing yard work, and small construction projects. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Sam Bolton; and her son: Sam Bolton. Survivors include her daughters: Kay Chute of Mesa, AZ; Pat O'Dowd and husband Bernie of Mesa, AZ; Jane Lamer and husband Larry of Omaha, NE; Cindy Davis of Mesa, AZ; and Sue Bolton; daughter-in-law: Tracy Bolton of LaVina, MT; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; brother: Wayne Hammer of Red Oak, IA; and many other relatives and friends. A celebration of life service will be held 11 AM Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. JoAnn Thomas officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society in memory of her son, Sam. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
