Obituary

Birthplace: Rural Elliott, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Betty Jean Bauer, age 85, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Betty was born July 10, 1930 near Elliott, Iowa, the daughter of Herman and Vera (Shapcott) Bauer. She attended school at Elliott and graduated from Wales-Lincoln High School. Betty worked for American General Life and Accident Insurance Company in Omaha, retiring after 34 years. Later she returned to this company and worked part time until moving to Red Oak in 1993. She was a member of the Red Oak Presbyterian Church and Rebecca Circle. She enjoyed playing bridge and participating in the bank clubs. Preceding her in death were her parents; sister: Lucile Foote; and nephew: Steven Foote. Survivors include her nephews: Douglas Foote and wife Deb of Red Oak, Iowa and Jerry Foote and wife Sharon of Stanton, Iowa; great nephew: Jeremiah Foote and wife Diana; great niece: Elisha Foote and husband Justin Grayson; great great nephew: Ethan; great great nieces: Addyson, Paige, and Maliyah; brother-in-law: Edwin Foote and wife Marilyn of Stanton, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, May 2, 2016 at the Red Oak Presbyterian Church with Pastor Caryn Pedersen officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the funeral at the church. A memorial fund is being established in Betty's name. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
