Birthplace: Montgomery County, Iowa Resided In: Council Bluffs, Iowa formerly of Red Oak, Iowa Beryl Kasch, age 81, of Council Bluffs, Iowa formerly of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Friday, April 4, 2003 at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa after an extended illness. Beryl Elaine Kasch was born December 14, 1921 in Montgomery County, Iowa the daughter of Elmer and Flora Mae (Johnson) Kasch. Beryl graduated from the Elliott High School in 1940 and started to work for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Elliott. She then moved to Red Oak where she worked until the late 1960's when she moved with the phone company to Council Bluffs, Iowa. Beryl retired from the phone company in 1976. Beryl was a member of the Pilot Grove United Methodist Church and the Pioneers (Retirees from phone company). She loved to travel, cook, and enjoyed babysitting her nieces and nephews. Beryl was preceded in death by her parents; her sister: Bette DeWitt; and her brothers-in-law: Robert Thielen and Dale DeWitt. Survivors include her 2 sisters: Marilyn Kahler and her husband William of Minden, Iowa; and Marjorie Thielen of Omaha, Nebraska; brother: Gordon Kasch and his wife Ellie of Minden, Iowa; nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, April 9, 2003 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Gordon Scott officiating. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Elliott. There will be open visitation at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Pilot Grove United Methodist Church. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
