Bartholomew James (Bartman) Hughes, age 57, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Monday, August 4, 2025, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Bart was born on September 16, 1967, in Shenandoah, Iowa, the son of John and Phyllis (Maca) Hughes.

Bart graduated from Red Oak High School with the class of 1986. Bart participated in basketball and football in both Junior High and High school.

Over the years, Bart worked at Walmart Home Office, construction and most recently Red Oak Greenhouse.

Being raised in the Catholic faith, Bart attended church many years at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Red Oak.

He enjoyed fishing, watching ball games on television and spending time with his numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; siblings: Lee Hughes, Debbie Edwards, Paula Sanders, Geri Kester and Matt Hughes; niece Maylissa Kester.   Survivors include his siblings: Linda Reed (Wayne), of Bentonville, AR; Nancy Ehlers (Jim), of Rogers, AR; Chris Hughes (Cindy),of Red Oak, IA, Bruce Hughes (Peggy) of St. Louis, MO; Monica Steffen (Garry), of St. Charles, IA ; and many other relatives and friends.

Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, 10:30 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Red Oak, IA

Visitation will be held at LeRette Funeral Chapel on Friday, August 8, 2025 from 5  to 7pm with Rosary to follow.
