Barbara Shook, age 82, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Monday, October 24, 2022 at the Red Oak Rehab and Care Center in Red Oak, Iowa. Barbara Shook was born October 14, 1940 in Shenandoah, Iowa the daughter of Orvin and Eva Florene (Smalley) Putnam.

Barbara was raised in the Shenandoah and graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1958. She worked as a telephone operator. Barbara was united in marriage to Edward Shook on July 27, 1963 in Shenandoah, Iowa. They made their home in Shenandoah. Barbara was a homemaker and babysat many children. She was a member of the Methodist Church, The Rebekah Lodge and the Rainbow Girls.

Preceding Barbara in death were her parents and husband Edward on July 4, 2015. Survivors include her: daughter: Kimberly Shook-Shurter and friend Travis of Bellevue, Nebraska; many cousins and friends including Dylan Crone and his family of Omaha, Nebraska of whom Barbara thought of as a grandson.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Friday, November 4, 2022 at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Shenandoah, Iowa.
