Birthplace: Healing Springs, AR Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Audrey I. McKee Vance, age 84, of Red Oak, Iowa formerly of Oakland, Iowa passed away Thursday, September 6, 2007 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak. Audrey Imogene McKee Vance was born October 31, 1922 in Healing Springs, Arkansas the daughter of JeHu Buchanan and Sally Ann (Morgan) Shook. She graduated from the Henderson, Iowa High School in 1941. She was united in marriage to LeRoy Kenneth "Pat" McKee on March 15, 1941 in Rockport, Missouri. They lived in Red Oak the majority of their married life. Pat preceded Audrey in death in 1982. On June 25, 1994 Audrey was united in marriage to Claire Vance of Oakland, Iowa. Audrey worked at Union Carbide Battery Company retiring in 1983 after 27 years of employment. While in Red Oak, she was a member of the First Covenant Church and was currently a member of the Sharon Presbyterian Church at Oakland, Iowa. She loved her family and enjoyed baking, gardening, and crafts. Throughout her life she collected hundreds of salt-and-pepper shakers. She enjoyed her dogs and they loved her dearly. Audrey is now in the loving hands of her Savior and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: LeRoy Kenneth "Pat" McKee; son: Samuel LeRoy McKee; grandsons: Robert Brian McKee and Terry Michael McKee; great granddaughter: LeLa Jean Raines; brothers: George, Theodore "Ted", and JeHu "Hugh" Shook; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Survivors include her husband: Claire Vance of Oakland, Iowa; daughters: Peggy Carmichael and husband John of Red Oak, Iowa and Sandra Guinn of Red Oak, Iowa; grandchildren: Jeff McKee of Red Oak, Iowa; Dino Hayz and wife Tina of East Moline, Illinois; Sherry Raines of Iowa City, Iowa; Audra-Anna Schoditsch and husband John of Chicago, Illinois; Kim McKee and Wayne Kirby of Omaha, Nebraska; Jenny Clayton and husband Matt of Huachuca, Arizona; and Julie Temple and husband Robert of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; great grandchildren: Alexis and Alana McKee of Omaha, Nebraska; Dustin Boyer of Sioux City, Iowa; and Atticus Garrison of East Moline, Illinois; sister: Evelyn Campbell and husband Al of Springfield, Missouri; sisters-in-law: Grace McKee of Red Oak, Iowa; Lola Adkins of Des Moines, Iowa; and Iva Shook of Red Oak, Iowa; brother-in-law: Gail "Bud" Parker of Red Oak, Iowa; daughter-in-law: Nancy McKee of Red Oak, Iowa; step-children: Chuck Vance and wife Patrice of Oakland, Iowa; Carol Kalb and husband Jim of Carson, Iowa; and Susan Vance of Omaha, Nebraska; step-grandchildren: Jesse Kalb and wife Nicholle of Oakland, Iowa; Jodie Kalb of Des Moines, Iowa; and Jamie Kalb of Carson, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, September 10, 2007 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Michael Harvey officiating. Burial will be in the Emerson, Iowa Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday, September 9, 2007 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
