Birthplace: Red Wing, Minnesota Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Audrey M. Carter, age 85, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday morning, May 19, 2009 at her home at the age of 85 years, 5 months and 21 days. Audrey Mae Carter was born November 28, 1923 in Red Wing, Minnesota, the daughter of Arthur Milton and Ruth Elizabeth (Johnson) Berlin. Audrey grew up in Minnesota and graduated from Red Wing High School. She later attended St. Olaf College in Minnesota. On May 24, 1947, Audrey was united in marriage to Donald Lee Carter in Red Wing, Minnesota. This union was blessed with two daughters, Janet and Jill. She was a very active member of the Red Oak Presbyterian Church and was a proud member of Chapter HB of the PEO. She was also a founding member of the Murphy Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, now known as the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed both golf and tennis. Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Donald in 1999; and a brother, Arthur Berlin and his wife Charlotte. Survivors include her children, Janet McAninch and her husband Jay of Centreville, Virginia, Jill Bergstrom and her husband Roger of Red Oak, Iowa; four grandchildren, Benjamin McAninch and his wife Jill of Birmingham, Alabama, Rebecca McAninch and Mark Graham of New York City, New York; Cale Bergstrom of Des Moines, Iowa, Jenna Bergstrom and her fiancé Greg Boehne of Des Moines, Iowa; two great grandchildren, Bart and Frank McAninch of Birmingham, Alabama; a nephew, Steve Berlin and his wife Peg of Minneapolis, Minnesota; along with many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, May 23, 2009 at the Red Oak Presbyterian Church with Rev. Caryn Pedersen officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Friday, May 22, 2009 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for the Serenity Garden or the Red Oak Presbyterian Church. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
