Birthplace: Platte Center, Nebraska Resided In: Villisca, Iowa formerly of Red Oak, IA Anna P. Johnson, age 97, of Villisca, Iowa formerly of Red Oak and Grant, Iowa passed away Monday, September 6, 2004 at the Villisca Good Samaritan Center after an extended illness. Anna Phillipine Johnson was born January 15, 1907 in Platte Center, Nebraska the daughter of Louis and MaFanda (Hassebrook) Gehring. She was raised in Platte Center, Nebraska. After school she worked on the family farm until her marriage to Leonard Johnson on September 8, 1938 in Platte County, Nebraska. They moved to a farm east of Grant, Iowa until 1944 when they moved to a farm south and west of Grant, Iowa. Their son Harlan now lives on the family farm. Anna and Leonard moved to Red Oak, Iowa in 1969 after their retirement. Leonard preceded Anna in death on March 5, 1979. Anna has been a resident of the Villisca Good Samaritan Center since January of 2001. She was a member of the Our Savior Lutheran Church, LWML, and the Thimble Club. Anna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Leonard Johnson; daughter: Wilma Schmit in 1980; brothers: Johnny and Ernest Gehring; and a sister: Mable Martensen. Survivors include 3 sons: Harlan Johnson and wife Wanda of Elliott, Iowa; Clyde Johnson and wife Barbara of Bellevue, Nebraska; and Dale Johnson and wife Sandy of Villisca, Iowa; daughter: Barb Roberts and husband Larry of Park Rapids, Minnesota; son-in-law: Leland Schmit of Bellevue, Nebraska; 14 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; brother: Clarence Gehring of Columbus, Nebraska; brother-in-law: Jimmie Johnson of Lake Ozark, Missouri; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, September 11, 2004 at the Our Savior Lutheran Church with Pastor Jerry Wagoner officiating. Burial will be in the Grant, Iowa Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Friday, September 10, 2004 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Our Savior Lutheran Church or the Villisca Good Samaritan Center. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
