Obituary

Ann Marie Borem, 54, of Red Oak, Iowa, entered into rest at home on Tuesday, October 27, 2026. Ann was born on July 31, 1972, in Peoria, Illinois, to Donna Walker. She grew up in Illinois, raised by her mother, Donna, and her beloved grandmother, Marion Walker.

Ann was a woman who was always full of life, love, laughter, and, of course, her unforgettable dark humor. She had a way of bringing laughter into a room and making memories that would last a lifetime. Above all else, Ann was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a proud grandmother. Her children and grandchildren meant absolutely everything to her. They were the light of her life, her greatest joy, and the reason behind so much of her happiness.

On September 26, 1996, Ann married the love of her life, Raymond Borem. Together, they built a life filled with love, memories, and three beautiful children. Ann, Raymond, and their children moved around Iowa before eventually settling in Red Oak in 2002, where they continued building their lives and raising their family.

Ann found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She loved taking trips to the zoo with her grandchildren, camping with Raymond, enjoying summer days at the pool with her family, and crocheting blankets with love woven into every stitch. Most of all, she loved being surrounded by her family. Whether it was a family gathering, an adventure with the grandkids, or simply spending time together at home, those were the moments she treasured most.

In October 2025, Ann was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma. In January 2026, she received another devastating diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia. Ann fought long and hard through the challenges these illnesses brought into her life. Her journey was not an easy one, but her story will always be remembered for the strength she showed, the love she gave, and the family who stood beside her. Though her fight has ended, the love she leaves behind will continue to live on through everyone whose life she touched.

Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband, Raymond Borem; her three children, Kayla (Brian) Schooling, William (Darian) Borem, and Cheyenne (Griffen) Campbell; her ten treasured grandchildren, Pypper, Sophia, Jaxon, Clark, Mariann, Haivyn, Penelope, Aubrey, Raeidyn, and Keirah; her five brothers and one sister; and her very special friend, Kris Thomas. She also leaves behind many other relatives and dear friends who will forever hold her close in their hearts.

Ann was preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, Marion Walker; her mother, Donna Walker; her brother-in-law, David Ward; and her father-in-law, Larry Eggling.

Ann leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured in years, but in the love, she gave, the lives she touched, and the memories she created. Her children will forever carry the lessons and love she gave them. Her grandchildren will grow up hearing stories, remembering the moments they shared with their grandma, and carrying a piece of her in everything they do. Raymond will forever hold close the memories of the life they built together, the family they raised, and the love they shared.

Though saying goodbye is never easy, Ann's love will never truly leave the people who knew her. It will live on in the laughter around the family table, the stories told over and over, the blankets she lovingly crocheted, the family traditions she helped create, and the countless memories that will never fade.

She may no longer be here to share her laughter, her love, or her perfectly timed dark humor, but her spirit will forever remain a part of the family she loved so deeply.

Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever a part of us.

A celebration of Ann's life will be held at a later date at the Shenandoah Eagles in Shenandoah, Iowa. Details will be announced at a later time.

LeRette Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with cremation services.
